All of my work has been influenced by a variety of different movements and artists new and old. I am particularly interested in Modern Contemporary art, Art Brut, the Bauhaus School, and more recently, modern Japanese art that pushes the boundaries between what is and is not considered, “fine art.” Artists such as Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, and Chinatsu Ban have had a huge influence on my work. I am also hugely influenced by the street, guerilla, and grafitti art movements, vinyl designer toys such as those by Kid Robot, and publications such as Juxtapoz, Giant Robot, and High Fructose.
My most recent work delves into more personal experiences with different cultures, specifically the intricate designs in Thai art and Buddhist motifs. I love experimenting with different mediums ranging from Crayola crayons to decorative paper and chine-colle printmaking techniques.
I like my work to seem charming and enduring at the surface, yet dig deeper and have underlying meanings such as dealings with societal and cultural issues that may not be seen immediately in the work. I have observed that my generation has grown up being heavily influenced by popular culture, comics, cartoons, and animations seemingly more than before and also in a more refined and advanced way with developments in technology and computer applications. These types of images have new meanings and have become a prominent form of visual art and expression. I want to be a part of a movement that others will appreciate as a unique and original style that pushes the envelope of visual culture.
